I STARTED OUTPLAY BY ACCIDENT IN MY DORM ROOM

During college volleyball preseason, our trainers emphasized how important it was to eat carbohydrates before workouts. But when it came to the snacks actually available to us, most didn’t match that advice. They were either too heavy, too protein-focused, or relied on caffeine.

So I started making simple, carb-focused snacks in my college apartment. It wasn’t meant to be a business. It was just fuel that made us feel better when we trained.

Over time, it spread beyond my dorm into NCAA programs and eventually into professional and Olympic sports - including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and Olympic teams.

Why We Built OUTPLAY

As we learned more about fueling, one thing became clear:

most athletes are under-fueled in carbohydrates, especially before training.

Protein powders, energy drinks, and “performance snacks” often miss the mark for pre-workout timing. They’re either too heavy, overstimulating, or hard to digest when it matters most.

OUTPLAY was created to make proper fueling simple, accessible, and effective - so athletes can get more out of every practice, workout, and game.

When athletes are fueled correctly, performance improves, training feels better, and results follow.
